For generations, the overrepresentation of certain demographic groups at elite colleges and universities meant that these same institutions took those students’ presence for granted. These students could reliably count on finding community and could depend on universities to keep them safe from discrimination.

That all changed in October 2023.

As a graduate of one of the universities most affected by the unrest, I was heartbroken watching the harassment that Jewish students faced during that period. But through my grief, I realized something: colleges and universities must earn our presence on their campuses, not the other way around.

Students do not work tirelessly during their high school years to get admitted to a school that will subject them to harassment.

Parents do not want a significant portion of their life earnings going to a school that discriminates against their child.

My personal mission is to make sure that all students matriculate at an institutions that fully welcome them for who they are.

I ensure that students and their families receive all of the information that they need about life on campus before they even begin the application process. I tailor my information-gathering approach to the student’s stated interests, so that all information that they receive throughout this process is relevant to them.

Rankings from organizations like the ADL have their uses, but they are not compiled by experienced higher education professionals. An experienced college counselor can help you look for the specific campus life characteristics that apply to your child, and ensure that adequate supports are available depending on your child’s needs.
